Established fifteen years ago in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside,
conveniently close to the junction of the A303 and the A350, the Summerleaze
Gallery presents three exhibitions a year, focusing on contemporary painters
and sculptors, both local and national. During other periods the gallery
hosts fine art courses and lectures.
The Summerleaze Gallery announces the exhibition US/UK, which will
open to the public on Monday, the 13th of July and can be viewed daily
from 11am to 4pm until Sunday the 26th. This first show to be curated
by John Stoller will feature works by fourteen artists from the United
States and Britain and will represent something of a departure for the
gallery.
John Stoller, who was a dealer in Modern and Contemporary art in the
United States for over twenty-five years, has joined the Summerleaze
Gallery to work along with Tim and Trish Scott Bolton on the
organisation and sale of exhibitions. US/UK will feature an
impressive array of works by artists who have made a significant
impact on the international art world over the last fifty years.
A number of the artists who emerged in the 1960's, such as Jim Dine
and Richard Hamilton, will be represented by examples of work from
several periods of their careers. Others will be represented by very
recent publications. The exhibition will be comprised of fifty-five
prints and multiples ranging from the lush lithographs of Howard
Hodgkin and Sam Francis, to the digital inkjet prints of David Hockney
and the complicated mixed media protraits by Julian Opie. Because of
the size and scope of this exhibition it will be installed in two
gallery spaces.
Please contact John Stoller at j.stoller@summerleazegallery.co.uk if you wish
photographs of examples of the work in the exhibition sent to you by
email.
